Our first rehearsal after founding, a grand force of 18 members.

Five years later — and now grown to more than 50 players — the band plays its Winter 2020 concert at the Multnomah Arts Center.

 

Launched in Fall of 2015, the Southwest Portland Community Band seeks to provide a fun and enriching musical experience for students and adults in Southwest Portland.

Directed by Nick Caldwell, the band is made up of adults and students, ages 14 and up. Now in its 7th year, the band rehearses at Ida B. Wells High School every other Wednesday from September through May.

Since launch, the band has grown from a small group of 15-20 playing at a local pub to a full-sized concert band that hosts two events each year at the Multnomah Arts Center.
